The Devonshire cemetery, one of the most poignant
cemeteries on the Somme. The inscription says it all, many of the Devonshires
who held the trench on 1st July 1916 died within minutes of attacking,
they were buried in that trench... The Devonshires held this trench,
the Devonshires hold it still.. |
